Aramis is one of the Musketeers, protectors to the King of France, and close friends with Athos and Porthos. They are also trying to prevent the schemes of Cardinal Richelieu to undermine the King, and rise in power.
The three first seperately have a run-in with the young D'Artagnan who seeks to become a Musketeer, and all three arrange a duel at different times. Only to find he's agreed to duel with them all, and after a confrontation with the Cardinal's guards between the four, they agree to let him join sides with them.

Of the three, Aramis is a holy man. Well, or at least he is very faithful, once a lay student of the Catholic faith. He does love women and poetry, and will happily quote the latter to the former. Some of his side funding has been secured this way from the grateful ladies' purses.
